Vampire's Lunch

Objection: Imagine there's a young vampire in your elementary school or junior high class. Imagine what s/he looks like; what unusual things might s/he do during the course of the school day? Illustrate one scene with the Little Vampire (who is of your own character design). The goal is to make a charming or witty spin on vampires & school imagery. The scene and characters should center on elementary or middle school life (ages 5-13). Let's avoid gore-fests and blood-baths.

Seawards!

What words do you think these images describe?
Here's a hint: They all start with the letter "C."
I'll give you the first one, okay!

Proverb (Literal)

"Stuck Between a Rock and a Hard Place"

This is the second half of an Illustration assignment; choose a proverb and illustrate it both literally and metaphorically. Keep both versions consistent in terms of materials/style.

Explanation: This one's a little more self-explanatory. The kid is now wedged between a popular stone structure found on campus and a brick wall. The wall is actually part of the freshmen quad which houses you during what is likely to be the most difficult year you'll ever experience in your four years at RISD. There's a slight change in style, I tried to make his proportions slightly less dramatic (less skinny!) because I felt it was more fitting to a "literal" situation.

Materials: bristol paper, 2b pencil, micron pens, prismacolor markers

Proverb (Metaphorical)

"Stuck Between a Rock and a Hard Place"

This is the first half of an Illustration assignment; choose a proverb and illustrate it both literally and metaphorically. Keep both versions consistent in terms of materials/style.

Explanation: The kid needs to choose between either lending a helping hand to an elderly woman in a dangerous situation or else take on a heaping pile of homework and studying. The piece suggests that nobody would want to be pressured into either one of these situations as nobody would want to be pressured against a rock or a hard place.
